Q: Isn't it dangerous to be out on the water at night?
A: In short, It can be! Operating a boat on coastal waters at night is not something to be taken lightly. Our Captain's lifetime of experience navigating these waters and the latest technology in GPS navigation ensure that you and your family or friends are always safe. Q: What fish will we be allowed to harvest? A: Flounder, Rays, Sheepshead, and Mullet are our main targets Q: Can you really eat Stingrays? A: Absolutely! Stingrays have a white meat that closely resembles scallops in texture, taste, and appearance. Q: How many fish can we expect to gig/shoot? A: While every trip is unique, you can expect to have dozens of opportunities to harvest fish throughout your trip. How many you take home depends on your skill in gigging or shooting them. That's the fun part of a trip with Lite the Nite; you're part of the success level of your trip! |
Q: Do I need a fishing license?
A: No. Our charter license covers you while you fish with us. Q: Is there a bathroom on your boat? A: No. As with most non-sport fisher style boats Lite the Nite does not have bathroom facilities. However, most of the boat ramps and marinas we launch from have bathrooms and Captain Josh or Captain Hunter will gladly make a "pit stop" by a bathroom at any time that you need him to. Q: Is there a minimum age for children? A: No. While any age child is welcome to accompany your group on your trip with Lite the Nite; children 5 to 6 years old and up seem to get more out of the trip. All children under 6 are required by law to wear a PFD (life jacket) at all times while the boat is underway; which will include your entire trip. Q: Isn't gigging or shooting fish cruel? A: Spearing/gigging fish for food dates back eons to man's earliest existence. Our ancestors used sharpened wood spears and torches made from pine knots to harvest all types of fish from both coastal and inland waters. These traditions have been passed down from one generation to another with technology advancing with each generation. We view gigging or shooting fish to be no more cruel than the fate that awaits beef cattle or chickens in poultry houses. However, if the thought of harvesting fish is appalling; book one of our night time bay tours and see all the same aquatic life as you would on a gigging or bow fishing trip! |
